Airport Visit

My brother hasn't been able to visit since last Christmas - almost 6 months ago - which has been the longest we've ever gone without seeing each other.  In case you don't remember from this post, Jon is my best friend, so it's been hard.  Especially since Miles Jonathon was born 8 weeks ago (tomorrow) and Jon hasn't been able to meet his godson yet...

SO, when Jon and his girlfriend, Sam, called to let me know they had a 2 hour lay-over scheduled in Atlanta on Tuesday we jumped at the chance to go see them!  It was such a nice visit! Clover loves them so much!

Clover-ella

Clover loves to dress up, especially like a fairy or a princess!  Yesterday she told me she was Cinderella and needed me to find her glass slippers!  Have I mentioned how fun this girl is??

After her Cinderella attire was complete she told me I could take her picture.  So I took full advantage of this rare occasion!

A moment in my life

Clover had finally closed her eyes for nap time and Miles was peacefully nursing.

It was the day's first moment of quiet stillness.

I breathed a little sign of relief and opened a delicious looking reese's cup I found in the fridge and had snuck upstairs.

Just as the wrapper was opened, Clover's eyes popped open and she said "Mom, what are you eating? Is that chocolate? I like chocolate! I want a bite!"

Now she is wide awake and has jolted her brother from his peaceful breast milk coma.

I still ate the reese's - and it was worth it.

She did it again!

Once again, Meg (of Thoughts of Megan) took some amazing pictures of my family!  This was Miles' first professional photo shoot and I think he had a pretty good time!  He's 10 days old in these pictures.

DWTS

Since I spend so much time awake throughout the night nursing Miles, I added a few new shows to my DVR lineup to help keep me awake. One new show, Dancing With The Stars. Yes, I know it's not a "new" show, but it's new for me because this is my first season watching it.

I LOVE Chelsea and Mark! I'm embarrassed to admit that I actually called in to vote yesterday just because I want them to win! Not only is Chelsea an awesome dancer, but they have the neatest, most creative dances!

Kirstie Alley is doing surprisingly well and looks awesome! Although, why does she always look stoned?? And thank goodness she quit wearing her hair down and in her face! Also, I'm pretty sure she might be sleeping with her partner.

I also love Hines and Romeo...

I think I'm addicted!

Pee pee in the potty, pee pee in the potty!

Clover turned 2 last November and Miles was due April 5th, so if I was going to have Clover potty trained before Miles came I had a window between November and March...which I missed. I didn't want to even attempt to potty train unless I knew she was ready.

Last Monday, I decided it just needed to happen. My friend Meg (maybe this blog should be called 'Thoughts of Meg' since I talk about her so much!) recommended a 3 day potty training method which worked great for her daughter. It's basically a "cold turkey" method, meaning you throw away all the diapers, go straight to underwear and skip the waste-of-money-pull-ups. The concept is that you and your child need to understand the signs of having to go to the bathroom without wearing a "back up method" like diapers or pull ups as a safety net.

Two weekends before potty training boot camp, my Aunt and Granny came to visit and Clover picked out a bunch of different underwear (tinkerbell, Fancy Nancy - you know, the essentials!) Clover told us all she wasn't ready to wear them yet, but understood that she was going to in 2 weeks.

Day 1 of potty training resulted in 3 accidents and a TON of full on tantrums. She threw a fit every time I made her sit on the potty. BUT, she also had 3 successful pee pee's in the potty and was in awe of herself every time she went!

Day 2 and 3 were much more successful. Only one small accident each day and she only threw a tantrum about sitting on the potty about half the time.

By Day 4, she knew when she had to go potty, would take the initiative and go by herself, no longer threw tantrums over sitting on the potty, and stayed completely dry during nap and bedtime!

She is SO proud of herself and loves to show off her undies!

iPhone blogging

Well, I'm officially a mother of two! Which means, I don't really have a lot of time to blog...so, I downloaded the blogger app from my phone in an attempt to blog more - and to give me something to do while I'm feeding my little man in the middle of the night!

Speaking of my little man, allow me to introduce Miles Jonathon
Born March 25th
8 lbs 5 oz
20 1/2 inches long

(my good friend Meg took his picture, of course!)

He'll be 6 weeks old this Friday and I must say, is quite the handsome little guy.

Clover is such a great big sister and loves to "help" me with Miles. She also loves to sing to him and give him lots of kisses (which are sometimes inadvertently head-butts!)
